Thanks for the kind words on the post.

Ah...good question. I wish I had a better answer, but there isn't really much you can do unless you have a Facebook rep. You won't see the # of impressions until your page is verified. You will be requested to authenticate/verify your page when you get to 10,000 fans. That process is to prevent spammers from building up big lists of people who like non-entity pages (like "We love chicken wings") and then spamming a ton of people if they manage to get a bunch to Like it. However, there's not a lot you can do before that.

If you work with Facebook and have an account rep that helps with advertising, then you can ask him or her to verify the page. They generally will do that. Otherwise, there is no other way. Sorry about that. I should have made that more explicit in the post.

Hi Jonathan,
This post was great and really helpful but I still have a question regarding insights/analytics. I am currently the admin on a Facebook page with less than 5000 fans (currently about 1,400) and I am unable to see the post analytics (# of impressions per post). However, I do have access to the insights tab which does contain some of the page analytics (though not the impressions per post). To my knowledge our page has not been 'verified as authentic' but in looking over the form to 'authenticate' a page it says Facebook must have reached out and asked you to confirm authenticity, which they have not.
any suggestions? I'd like to be able to see the # of impressions per post to determine the effectiveness.

[...] This works the same as if you published something to your brand’s Facebook Wall. It would also go to the News Feed of anyone who Liked your page (previously known as being a Fan). Whether or not your Fans see it in their feeds is another story (read about it here: “Why Your Facebook Page Doesn’t Exist“). [...]

Good stuff! One quick addition I wanted to make (that further drives home your point) is that even when a user is displaying "Most Recent" that doesn't necessarily mean you're posts are showing up. In order to start showing up in feeds (either option) you need to first get some interaction with your posts from your "likers"
