I love how new lists of C’s for social media keep popping up! I came up with a list a couple of years ago that included:
* Communicate
* Connect
* Collaborate/Co-Create
* Collect/Categorize
* Collective Wisdom
* Customization
* Conversation
* Community

(And in the social marketing for health and social issues work I do, the hope is that these will all lead to the Big C – CHANGE.)

I really like the consumer research and customer service Cs you came up with as well!

Nicely done. I think you know that I disagree with your definition of communication (see “Pharma Marketing vs. Healthcare Communication”; http://bit.ly/bWSWYQ). So I would remove that “C” and replace it with a “D” and retitle your post “The Seven Uses of Social Media in Business — 6 C’s and 1 D”

This is pretty consistent with the five social media objectives in Groundswell of Listening, Talking, Energizing, Supporting and Embracing. I think contests and causes are subsets of “energzing” objectives. But I always appreciate a construct that that can find words that start with the same letter for everything.
