There are three reasons for today’s post.
First, I wanted to thank everyone who’s supported, visited, commented, and otherwise helped this blog along. It’s coming up on four months since my first post and I’ve had thousands of visitors from all over the world, far more than I ever thought, so thanks for spreading the word.
Second, as the title of this post goes, pharma and healthcare seem to be getting the message. I realize that I’m not going to change the world of marketing with just this one blog (but maybe). Instead, I’m hoping to create a bunch of people that spread the word that more is possible in emarketing for healthcare. So, how do I know that you’re getting the message? Google Analytics. Someone encouraged me the other day to take a look at which network locations visitors are coming from. I was very surprised at the results. Since this blog started, the following pharma and healthcare companies (or at least people using their network) have visited this blog (in order of total visits):
- Eli Lilly
- Novartis
- Vertex Pharma
- Hoffmann-La Roche (Roche)
- AstraZeneca (my former employer)
- Express Scripts
- CV Therapeutics
- Baxter
- Medtronic
- Sanofi-Aventis
- J&J
- Merck
- Novo Nordisk
- Wyeth
- Cleveland Clinic
- Forest
- Henry Ford Hospital
- GSK
- Pfizer
- UPDATE: Schering-Plough (a bunch of you came by after I posted this, so I’ll add you to the list)
- UPDATE: Bayer (same thing, welcome)
There are a bunch more, but you get the idea. Somehow I’m missing Bayer, the only top 5 healthcare company not to visit. If you know anyone Bayer, feel free to put in a good word for me. Bayer finally came by for the first time today (March 12) after I posted this. If you’re really a data geek like me, let me know and I can send you some of the CSV files from Google Analytics.
Three…and here’s the real reason for today’s post. It isn’t supposed to be some pat on the back message, but rather I want to make an offer to everyone. If you work for one of the companies listed above, I’d like to thank you personally for your support. I’d also like to make you a special offer. Use my contact page and drop me a note. Here’s the offer…I’m assuming you like a lot of what you see here and might want to hear more. So, I’m ready to do that one on one with your company. Send me a note and we’ll figure out a day where I’ll give you a free, no strings attached, full-day consultation of your digital marketing efforts. We can talk about whatever you want. Conduct an audit what you have, help you solve a specific problem, recommend how to enhance your assets, attend a brainstorming meeting, do a keynote-type speech. You set the agenda. I’ll come to you.
If your company name isn’t on the list above, let me know and maybe we can work something out. I’m trying to spread the message far and wide, so I want to talk with as many people as possible.
So, there you have it. No purchase necessary. Enter as often as you like. I hope to hear from you.

I wonder how many of these have visited from twitter?

Out of interest John, can you tell us whether anybody took you up on this offer?
I know as someone who works for one of the companies on that list that – even though some individuals in the organization may want to move forward – organizational inertia is a very powerful force to overcome.

Arthur,
First, since I know you are located in Sydney, I’m happy to come out to you as well if you pick up the plane flights (business class, of course) : )
Second, I have talked with 3 of the companies on this list so far (it’ll be four on Tuesday). I’ve already got a trip booked with one of them (can’t say which though) and we’re working on figuring out what makes sense for the others. For an additional five of these, I already talk regularly with people there, so I’m not sure if they count as well.
I agree that organizational inertia can be very tough. Frankly, I was surprised by the response. I’m hoping more take me up on it in the future. I think finding a place where I fit is the biggest challenge. Is it a brainstorming meeting? Brand planning? Research? That’s probably holding some people back. However, one company did call with a perfectly clear job for me to do and a date. As you can imagine, I’m really looking forward to talking with them some more.
